20+ Years of Track, Road and XC Running Experience
7 x Marathoner
Dave developed his lifelong passion for running early on, starting as many kids do, at Little Athletics in Melbourne. When his family moved to Jakarta, Indonesia in year 9 for high school, he quickly signed up for the Cross Country and Track teams, finding success in regional competition over the XC, 800m, 1500m and 5000m races, and still holds the Cross Country school record.
Dave has since trained and raced XC, track and road for over 20 years. Starting with a focus on the shorter distances, he moved out to running the half and full marathon and has since run marathon’s across the world, including Chicago, Rotterdam, Gold Coast, Canberra and multiple Melbourne marathons. He has goals of running in Tokyo, London and New York.
While Dave has had his fair share of injuries, he has largely been able to avoid any major long term injuries, something he puts down to his training approach. His approach to training focuses on building strength and aerobic capacity to allow your body to adapt and increase running load slowly through consistency. He has also been fortunate to have some very supportive coaches throughout his own running career. He believes the coach-athlete relationship is critical to achieving the goals you set out, but also finds that a coach can help you go further and faster than you ever thought.
Dave has worked in various corporate consulting roles for the past 15 years, so understands the pressure to fit running into a busy work life. He has also lived and worked across Asia, developing experience in adapting to different training environments.
Dave is experienced and passionate about working with runners of all abilities to help them reach their goals. To him, there is no better feeling than working hard and crossing that line with a new PB.
