Jonny Squire

Jonny didn’t catch the running bug until he was a bit older, but has since made up for lost time as it quickly became a big part of his life. After joining Melbourne University Athletics Club he fell in love with the sport- especially the process of training and working towards achieving his goals. He has since completed multiple marathons including Osaka where he first broke 2hrs 30mins and also enjoys competing with his team mates in the XCR season and track races over the summer. With Andy Buchanan as his coach, he has learnt a lot and seen big improvements in his own training which has resulted in PBs from the 5k all the way to the marathon. As a Physiotherapist with a background in Exercise and Sport Science, he believes in taking a holistic approach to training and understands the importance of maintaining consistency, managing training load and other factors for injury prevention and performance.

He loves travelling for races, meeting new people in the running community and believes that achievements are best shared with those who are a part of the journey. He has completed his Level 1 Recreational Running course and is also involved with the MUAC development squad.
