Ned Buckell
Running has been part of most of Ned's life. Ever since he was 5 years old he was running cross country races in the winter and racing at the track in summer for Little Aths Bendigo. Ned started getting coaching in Grade 6 under Andy Buchanan (8 years ago) and has been with him ever since. An unfortunate non running injury (staph infection in the hip) led to him missing many years of running from the ages of 15-18 and 19-21. Though being surrounded by his twin brother Matt who is also coached by Andy, he continued to learn and develop his knowledge around running. He was still heavily invested in both of their training, which included early mornings on the bike to help out with sessions.
Ned is currently in his last year of university studying a Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science in Bendigo.
Though running personal bests is great, Ned enjoys the social side of running most. Meeting people for runs, going away on 'holidays' to train or race, as well as the benefits running has on our mental health. A great outlet for those fortunate enough to get out and just run. That being said, Ned also loves the places running can take you, such as pine forests, mountains, open roads or trails deep in the bush.
Ned is an Accredited Level 1 Recreational Running Coach with Athletics Australia & holds a Working With Children Check (WWCC)
